Alright people, first things first. I can't call you Peeps anymore because now all I can think about when I say it are those fluffy pink boobs that Scarlett emailed me from her microwave. So now I've decided that Storypeople + Peeps = Steeples. Now I have Apples and I have Steeples, and you are my Steeples.
Okay then, Steeples. I hesitated on this for a moment until I got to work and found the Thought of the Day that my boss sends out the entire company every morning:
You have a unique message to deliver, a unique song to sing, a unique act of love to bestow. This message, this song, and this act of love have been entrusted exclusively to the one and only you. – John Powell
So here is my message. Go to iTunes or Amazon or walk to the music store or You Tube or whatever you have to do, but get a copy of Angela McCluskey's song "Love Is Stronger Than Death". Do not be seduced by the preview clip--it is not enough. The song changes in three significant ways that you will not get in a clip; you have to listen to the entire song, which obviously means you have to buy it. I considered just copying the lyrics here but it's still not the same. There is something imparted in the way that she delivers them that I can't convey without her. Kindred, you are not exempt from this exercise!
I listened to it on my commute to work this morning and then listened to it over and over for the entire 40 minutes that it took me to get here and thought, "I think one of the Steeples needs to hear this." And then I thought, "Well hell, maybe all of the Steeples need to hear this." And then, "I wonder why I really needed to hear this? Was it just to tell someone else about it?" And then there were the megawatt goosebumps and considerable leaking from the eyes to the extent that I oozed away every bit of the eyeshadow I took such trouble to apply today.
So go. Do it. Come back and tell me about it. I was supposed to tell you. Now you are supposed to do it.

Goose bumps. I am one of the ones this was meant for.
Every March I begin to to have any uneasy feeling. An undefined sadness which always seems out of sync with the first real hints of spring which, otherwise, makes my heart sing. It isn't until several days into it that the reason comes clearly into focus because I am not one who keeps track of "death dates," but both of my parents died in March. Still - my body knows. My heart keeps track of the cycle even if I don't intellectually. Dad passed in 1986 - the last day of the month. Mom in 1995. March 11th. I suppose it's no coincidence that your trek down the mountain with this song comes on this date...March 11th.
It's probably also no coincidence that a couple of days ago I made a soul collage card also with this general message (NOT consciously thinking about my parents). When I first made the card, I was kinda horrified by it's dark images, which I'd had absolutely no thought or intention of making. I didn't even know what it meant because on the surface, it looked very grim and scary, with only a spot of brightness. With the help of an encouraging friend who asked me the right questions, I finally did figure it out and, at it's heart, the message was the triumph of life over death & good over evil. Now that I've thought about it even more, I'm going to add a bit more to the card as the meaning has evolved and become more apparent. However finite it seems to be, death is only a doorway and it has no power of it's own to change that which is true and good. Nothing is lost. Ever. Or like the song says, it rises again.
So thanks, Sassy, and, BTW, I like "Steeples". It works. :~)

Re: Soul Collage --- Probably the best thing is to google "soul collage" if you want to know more. It's a process developed by Seena Frost where you make 5 X 8 collage cards through an intuitive process. First you just go through magazines or piles of images and pull out things that appeal to you for some reason. You don't need to know why. You then begin cutting and pasting things that seem to go together in some way. Again -- it doesn't need to make sense to you at the time, although it may. When it's "complete" you decide what the card says in an "I am one who....." format. Sometimes it obvious. Sometimes it isn't. Eventually, when a number of cards are made, you begin to divide them into 4 "suits" depending on what the message of the card is. Does it represent some part of your psyche? Is it bigger than yourself? etc. One suit of cards has to do with friends and family; influences in your life, so for those, you pretty much start with a general plan about those qualities, but many of the cards are purely intuitive. There's a lot more to it than that, but that's a nutshell version to give you a general idea..... Ultimately the cards can be used/consulted similarly as tarot deck when you have enough of them . What different individuals may see in cards may be entirely different from each other and that's fine. It's impossible to do it wrong. Seena Frost has written a book on this and workshops are available here and there periodically around the country. I've been to a couple of workshops but mostly, periodically make cards at home or with a few friends. I've got over 50 so far but haven't begun to divide into suits yet. Simply making them turns out to be an enlightening process. Sharing with others tends to deepen the experience. Check it out

Oh yes, it was funny--Marshmallow boobs, but that's exactly how my weirdo assocations get made (by weirdos).
Yes, I absolutely do think this is connected to the dreams because today I figured out what a sky stalker is why the Asian fellow wanted to read the bumps on the bottom of my tongue and why he gave me a message in Latin. I'm starting to understand all the water and the children and why I seem to be going through some kind of spiritual makeover. I can see the clues spread out over several dreams now and they didn't make alot of sense individually but it is coming together. But you know what? I never would have gotten it if I hadn't started writing them down and saving them.
Don't ever think, not even for a minute, that we are not connected to for a reason Steeples!

angela mcclusky has been a fave for a very long time....her voice and music just BURST out of her in a way that moves me beyond measure. and her wonderful scottish burr when she speaks is lovely.
there is an archived live performance on kcrw.com...from their show morning becomes eclectic. watch it.
the song is, well. no words...
i've had a week of stress, fear and anger. first time i've felt calm all week.
something's going on. it's wild, right?
you're figuring out the dreams.
i'm dreaming like a maniac...and will now start writing them down for me to figure out. (it's funny..i've had dream envy. i get up each am and run to the computer to read yours, yet haven't taken the time to write mine down. they seem to dull. maybe not!) i'm going to look up kathyrns cards too.
it's time to listen. to stop and listen.
steeples..
love it.
still digesting, but thank you for the song. looking at all of us, and what we know about each other....can't be a person here who didn't get a message from that song.
thanks for not telling us in latin too

OOOooo, thank you, Kathryn! I look forward to the exploring!

I read this earlier today, went to Amazon, downloaded the song, and have listened to it probably 7 or 8 times already. The first time I bawled,...they were tears of sadness and letting go and going on and relief and acceptance all rolled into one. Thank you, Sassafrass, for being a messenger.
I love the word to describe us...Steeples. When I first saw that, I thought...
Places of worship, ie sacred places, usually have steeples atop them, and this place is special and sacred, so that word is so fitting. Just my mental associations.
I am smiling as I type this, fighting back tears, dunno why I am crying, do not need to know why. Some things just are, and I am glad we just are, that this place just is.
Love,
Jo

I have been dreaming lately about folks from my past...and seeing them as they really are, if that makes any sense. No clue what it means, but I have been writing them down.
I ain't touching the marshmallow boobs comment with a ten foot peep . I was in Walmart earlier today and saw green peeps--ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. But it made me think of the steeples.
Love,
Jo

I guess I still haven't replied to this thread, which seems odd, because so often I'm jumping in saying, "Listen to THIS! Listen to THAT!"
With the constant that music is in my life, it isn't too surprising, that I have listened to this song multiple times when my computer is on...
I guess there is so much I'm processing right now, that I still don't have words... but when I do,
I will be back.
That is when I will read all of the beautiful responses everyone else has written...
But then, sometimes there are no words.
Besides, maybe,
Thank You.
Peace in your hearts,
With the love of my soul
