Grandma's Quilt (for my Grandma who will turn 90 Sunday)
If you were to make a Stanley family quilt,
It would smell like fresh tomatoes in the summer
Or burning wood in the winter
It would laugh like the sisters
As they sat around the quilting frame
It would taste like fresh milk, straight from the cow
Or Syble's cornbread
It would run with wild abandon
Like grandkids playing in the yard
It would be stitched with love by all who touch it
And fold you warmly in Grandma's love.

Believe.

Oh Linda -- I can't tell you how much I love this - makes me feel all warm and buttery. I'll bet your grandma sprouted some tears when she heard it!

Ooooh Linda!
This is so special!

All my senses were abducted by the taste of milk straight from the cow and the smell of woodsmoke... and that feeling of the warm love of Grandma...

Happiest of birthdays to your beautiful Grandma,
what a wonderful day to look forward to, Sunday!!

Love, and Joy,... and Peace, dear one.

Glad you enjoyed it ... I don't know if Grandma has read it yet, bet she has, but I didn't see her. I took it to the party and put it in a basket full of cards. There were at least 125 people there (she had 9 kids and they each have an average of 3 and now she has great-greats). She still lives by herself and is in pretty good physical and mental shape. Thought ya'll would enjoy this,

My husband was telling Grandma that a lot of people came to her party. She said, "And I don't know who half of them are. I guess they know me though."

How did I miss this warm and comforting poem? Reminds me of a quilt I have on my couch, one handmade by my Granma. it is colorful, just like she was. Belated happy Birthday to your Gran,

Love,

I have a beautiful wedding ring pattern quilt made by a great grandma I never met. And then I have a "Rocky Road" pattern quilt with only 2 different bright pink fabrics, one solid and one floral which was made for my childhood bedroom in about 1966 by my sweet "Granny Mamie" for whom I was named. It looks very 1960s, but...gotta love it!

Quilts - now my mom is making them. I guess I should learn how so the art doesn't get too lost.

There is nothing more special than a handmade quilt by a loved one.
It's not hard to learn Linda...you just start with love.
I haven't made one yet...I was always going to b4 I became challanged ; but even so...I think that I can....working with fabric always was fun for me. I could make my old singer just zing and sing!. It needs a new cord, now, though. And I 'd have to get another printer table...lol
Hugs,
Tina~
