Today, Lance & I will walk together some of our favorite Boulder places. Quietly, I will leave small traces of him as we have in rivers & mountains, schools & beaches that he graced with his presence.

His wife & children (& Lana) are with him on Kauai that he always wanted his kids to see.

This is in Gratitude rather than Darkness because we all are forever thankful for each moment we spent with a most remarkable human being.

with love to you all...

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually
They may seem like a godsend and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons,
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson,
love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season, or a lifetime.

Exactly, Sass. Over the years I have learned to hold people loosely in the palm of my hand, not with a clenched fist. It's futile to resist their time or need to move on. Still, letting go is the hardest part.

I find great solace, though, knowing that every single person in my life was there for a reason. I carry each and every one in my heart.

Peace,
Jo

Rich,
Being grateful is a wonderful thing. It's a selfless act. And leaves you with feelings of love.

Sassy, Loved you poem....it's one of the prettiest ways I've ever heard of this subject....

JO.....God made you tall because he knew you'd need an extra big heart for all of the love inside of you that you share with others.

Mish....bless your heart.

Living with gratitude is one of the things that has helped me through this difficult time in my life. And many others...I just didn't realize it till now.

This thread is filled with so much love and gratitude...
Thanks Rich for sharing

ya' know, I got to thinking...I truly would love to be scattered in a big vat of coffee beans that are being ground. I would finally know what it is like to BE a caffeine buzz.

Rich and T, thanks for the kind words.
But uh, T, I think God made me tall sos I can help the shorter folks get items they need off the top shelves in the grocery store.

Peace,
Jo

Rich, my friend,
So glad you and family have some quality time walking with him, through this crazy, beautiful, serene world... so grateful you find gratitude, to surround the sorrow and make it beautiful, too, to fill you with love and abundance to nourish the children and help them grow... to live the way you choose to live...
Peace in your hearts,
With the love of my soul
