Her hands knead
And push
Large stones in
My back
Over and over
Getting smaller
Painful

I know
Tomorrow, or next
Will be Better
I'll turn my head
Further as the
Neck will move
So I can see what's
Approaching better
The tension that
Brought me here
Lanquishes

I name the largest
Pains

Calling their names
I release you!
As skilled hands
Push away the knots
I flush, releasing the problems
Leaving,
Shoulders unencumbered
Ready to start anew
Believe.

Linda...always good to see what's coming, eh?

i especially like the part about starting anew.

i guess life IS like a back massage sometimes.

Ooooh that makes me think of a story (I definitely enjoyed this one - as one of those people that not only goes around giving hugs to strangers but someone who randomly gives massages to people who are comfortable with it and such, not just when they ask.. ya know? Sometimes ease some aches you don't know you have...)

Miss Linda, I too love the part about being ready to start anew... I feel that as a deep and refreshing breath full of song.

The story your poem makes me think of is from a time I went to Reiki with a friend the day after my 17 year old dog Bojo died - and there was this woman... you know I remembered her name for a long time, but I'm not sure I remember anymore, - anyway, I'll never forget what she said, that it doesn't matter necessarily how much experience you have at something like that, in some of the healing arts, the most important ingredient is compassion...

Mal, well put... i couldn't agree more. i think compassion makes the journey bearable and is the ingredient that keeps us from feeling like we are living on islands.

i like the Buddhist definition, "Compassion is that which makes the heart of the good move at the pain of others. It crushes and destroys the pain of the distressed."

sorry about your dog. i lost mine 5 years ago and still miss her.

Peace, Jo
