***Watching gas prices go down everyday...saw $1.77 today! (through out town prices range up to $1.99)
***Our first real snow last night / this morning.
***The city-owned hospital whose urgent care center made sure I got excellent care yesterday even though I'm currently broke and have no insurance.
I got a nasty respiratory thing which hit like a ton of bricks, blocking my bronchial tubes within 2 days, so I could barely breathe and barely even talk. I drove myself over and they said my oxygen level had dropped to 82%, (they look for at least 90% to be within normal).
So yes, the natural health goddess graciously submitted to oxygen, being nebulized, a cortisone shot, X-rays, and initially 3 prescriptions: an antibiotic (yucky ooo), an oral steroid (yikes), and a pain killer, (which i've actually been afraid to take). Turns out Mrs. Krista that breathing is highly underrated, and when it comes right down to it, despite my previous advice, I will become a PharmaWhore if I have to in order to breathe! My natural stuff usually works for me, but not this time!
***The X-rays (which I protested, not having insurance or money, but they said I really needed to have them), showed it was not pneumonia.
***The friend who I put on alert last night. I was feeling worse again after waiting 2 hours to get my cheap prescriptions, and I was really afraid I was going to wind up having to call an ambulance in the middle of the night. I thought, what if I can barely talk and can't make them understand where to come get me. So I told him if he got a call from me with just heavy breathing, to please send an ambulance, and he said, "oh I'll just come get you myself and take you to the city hospital. You'd need someone with you there anyway." And I know the way he drives, he would get me there fast!
***So by about 2 am the meds finally kicked in enough that I knew I was going to be okay.
***The nebulizer machine which they tried to send home with me, but I declined, again due to cost, even though they wouldn't deny me treatment due to money. After last night I rethought that, hmm probably less expensive to everyone than a trip to ER, and I could do it quicker right here at home. So I called and they said I could still come and get it, and wrote me a fourth prescription for the nebulizer meds.

and sometimes drugs are good....
i had a great doctor, who i can no longer afford, that was a sikk....
he got me very healthy there for a while with natural stuff, but, when i was sick...he gave me whatever it took to get me better, and THEN we kept me healthy in a more natural way.
anyway....
i'm grateful you got help too..
hang in, feel better,
peace, mish

I haven't had really bad sinus stuff for awhile...it's been pretty mild. It must be a beginning of pregnancy kind of thing. Plus I think the weather has an effect. I watched a video online about how to use a Neti Pot...I still might try a home version of that (like in a water bottle with a squirty thing)...or I might just be stubborn and do nothing and wait for it to pass like everything else.
Hope you feel better soon!

Mame...I am grateful, too, that you got the medical attention you needed. I have learned that I ineveitably get what I need, no matter the circumstances. However, always getting what I want is another story entirely lol.
As for your nebulizer stuff, I have asthma, so I have tons of nebulizer medicine. If you ever need some, let me know and I will send you some.
Get to feeling better.
Peace, Jo

Thanks all, for your kind words and wishes! I slept very well last night and will continue to just lay low, rest and keep warm through the weekend. I'm missing a baby shower, a music jam session, a hike, and ribs and cards at a friends house, but I'm just happy to be able to climb the half flight of stairs to my bedroom without having to take 3 minutes to recover my natural rate of breathing. And my friends will appreciate me not bringing my germs around.

Rock on Mame!!! Might try taking just a half a pain pill if you have no tolerance for it, and no alcoholic beverages... That only intensifies... er just don't drink and take pain meds (unless you have a witness to take pictures of you wearing the lampshade...)
Glad you are feeling better

The first coupla nights I was afraid to take the pain meds cuz being totally knocked out might not be such a good idea when you might suddenly stop being able to breathe well. What if I didn't wake up to do something about it? And then after that I really didn't need pain meds...except maybe to counteract the sleeplessness which was a side effect of other drugs.
Anyway I'm feeling pretty good now after laying around all weekend...just have to get my strength back and finish out the whole round of drugs. And of course, I am bored silly.
Thanks again for all your kind wishes!
