**I am thankful for creative opportunities!

Being asked to be the vocal coach and part of the music leadership team for my church's production of Godspell, our first major musical production! I love being part of a creative team and haven't had many opportunities in a very long time, so I'm pretty excited! The lead music director is a professional music producer, and there is loads of talent available, plus we are openning up the auditions to the community including local colleges and universities, so this is going to be a top notch production!

I may also audition for a part, but I'll decide after I am more familiar with the show and its individual characters. I haven't ever seen it. The director said there wasn't a conflict with me doing both, but I'd like to determine whether I think any of the parts are really right for me.

I also am taking a small acting part in a video shoot a week from today for a promo video for an international children's charity. (The Video producer is a personal friend.)

I am grateful for...

*the rare and wonderful group of creative and emotionally alive human beings that hang out on this site.

*the gracious hospitality and whimsical imagination of our wonderful host, Brian.

*my oh-so-fun personalized avatar that I'd grown to take for granted since I've had it for so long.

*my little house which is filled with richness and and an extra measure of love today, brought in by 4 friends who came over last night for prayer and pie, to lift me and my house up in this stressful time.

*the $50 someone tucked under the dining room table centerpiece last night.

*a gorgeous day which allowed me to get out on one of my favorite trails without a coat yesterday.

*that for this month, my electricity and phone bills are paid, and I am comfy and warm.

*All-powerful Almighty God who is my Sustainer and Provider, even when I don't know exactly how or where He is going to show up.

*The wonderful job that He is in the process of providing for me, even though I have yet to find it.

PS, Mal, due to a church budget crunch, Godspell was postponed...hopefully next year. The video shoot for Compassion was fun to do...hmmm, I never did get to see the final result though. I did a voiceover for another one of their training videos too. I was the voice of a black woman (animation).

Mame - I'm thankful for your list. Keep faith. Remember God takes care even of the little birds, and He will take care of you. My family has been through a very tough time financially, and things are finally looking up. My husband went to work this week after closing his business (even while he has huge debts left to pay). It's hard to accept help, but do it with a promise that you'll pass it on. Speaking of work - have you thought of offering to do voiceover work? Find video producers, etc. and let them know you're available! It's probably not a full-time job, but you never know... praying for you and that great job...

And yes, I should do some investigating and see what other videoproducers or music studios are around here.

Mame, have you ever read the book The Little Prince? The first chapter is basically about seeing what others cannot see, about "thinking outside the box". It is a great book that taught me a heap in a fun and whimsical way.

I agree with you that the job you have yet to discover awaits you. At just the right time you will find it. If you don't believe it, believe that we believe it. Belief always carries me through.

I'm so glad you reopened this thread....I hadn't seen it before now. The pictures are gorgeous! When you wrote that the skies are really that blue, It reminded me of the beautiful night sky at my sister's in western KS. The sky is almost a dark purple blue color, and the stars just seem to be so much closer and sparklier, too. There is a lot of beauty in an arid region if you just look for it.
You have a beautiful, pure heart, Mame.
To be grateful in a time of adversity is a true blessings. I say that from experience. It's what gets you through the day sometimes,huh, Mame?

Yes, focusing on my blessings helps me with my quest to avoid the panic that can stalk a person in times like this. It helps restore my faith that God really is FOR me.

Ohhh Mame, the blessings you speak gratitude for are a breath of warm fresh air on my soul. ~smiles~ How Grateful I am for this place...

Today I am thankful for
-my smile as I greeted this beautiful morning at 6:45 so I could get a head start on the day after a lovely night's sleep.
-the beauty and Joy of Living that made me smile so.
-for my community celebrating Cameron's birthday last night by taking him out to get him what he wanted then coming back and sitting and talking about the pranks that we all have had pulled on us or that we were creative enough to pull. Then we moved our dining room table aside and turned up the German music from some bar in Chicago and danced the polka around our living room and dining room. What fun!
-For the welcoming embrace of the community that I am living in, in laughter, prayer, food and warmth, in conversation and in quiet, in walking our individual paths to fulfill our dreams and callings
-For Krista's FABULOUS baby shower and the friends who traveled from near and far to be there.
-For my storypeep family that is so creative and warm and loving and bright and real... and the Wiz who makes me smile every day when I see the Story of the Day in my inbox and come home to storyland for my next dose of fun loving home-ness.
-For my family in Cleveland who I miss, and pray for, and wish I could be with at this time of fear and hope and quiet desperation.... for the dozens and dozens who pray with us, for my Dad who walks his steps and takes care of my dogs and goes to work and the hospital every day, updates the family, and nourishes Mom with his presence. For my Mom, who inspires me by her Will to Live, who I love beyond what I can bear in this moment...
-For the chance to finish school, to do work that is fulfilling, to pursue a way of living in a way that sustains me so that I can help others, and to Love with everything that I am.
