(...by the way... it's Always so nice to hear a bit of Sweetness from another extended when you're in a rough spot. Don't know how I would have come quite so far had I been denied that.

I just ventured under the stairs - and once again Kindred has the info that resonates with me.

I strangely seem to 'get' all the different POVs being displayed. How odd.

I love knowing that when I get whiny about my work situation - which I do - I have a place to babble in whatever form I want, knowing that others who venture to this place come expecting to find dark grungy things.

Brian, your worldview is unique, and you have the knack for explaining it well.

Dear Brian,
I believe that we all go through dark periods. If we don't acknowledge them, we can't deal with them. Pretending everything is fine, is not an answer, it's the "ostrich effect". I'm no therapist, but without working through the dark, we will never see the light.

Bravely said Kindred...

We all take a trip to the Dark Place under the Stairs.

Where I work...a lot of time is spent under there... and we tend to deal with it by whining and fussing (I'd call it something else, but I'm in polite company) and being generally onery to one another.

But in the quiet spaces... the pain is real and harsh.

Never equate gallows humor or whining with not caring

I figured In the Dark was the place for this.. I just lost a very dear friend that I shared so much humor and life with. His being gone has made me think twice about everything. I was journaling and this just came out.

"I used to love compliments, she said, until my friend died. At his funeral people kept saying how good he looked. To me, he just looked dead."

I reread what I had written, laughed so hard I cried and knew I would be okay, he hasn't left me at all. He is just in my head and heart now. [b]

Hi Becky...beautiful words. Welcome to this land. The light is always on, even in the dark.

Look up at the sky. Ask yourself, "Has the sheep eaten the flower or not?" And you'll see how everything changes.
And no grown-up will ever understand how such a thing could be so important!
