Hey, Joey...

As I noted in another msg to you, your mom was much loved here. Many of us have copies of her writings on our hard drives...many have been shared and accumulated here. Many have been sent along to friends and loved ones. Many have been printed and tucked away in drawers or books or Bibles.

Your mom wrote of eternal topics, with beauty and grace and spirit and humor. She touched so many hearts and often with stories of you and your sister.

Many here count themselves fortunate to have been a part of her life. From your postings here, it is also clear we are fortunate to be a small part of YOURS as well.

Thank you for writing here, Joey.

Happy Birthday Ginny! November 9 was her birthday, and she would have been 39. I guess one could look at this and say "well, at least she'll never have to deal with hitting the big 4-0!" Not really funny, I know....

My mother and I went to lunch and had a huge brownie with chocolate syrup and ice cream in her honor - exactly what we would have done if she'd been with us. My sister loved chocolate!!

Thanks to StoryPeople for keeping this forum up - it is such a blessing to be able to come here and read her stories and other folks' comments. To me, it's a peaceful spot in a hurry-up world, and I appreciate it.

Love to all!

My sister Ginny (also known to some as Cecily), was a warm, sensitive, strongly opinionated, funny, complicated, friendly, and very open-minded woman. She was above all else a mother to two children, a son and a daughter. She was a wife, a sister, and a daughter herself. She valued friendship above everything except her children, and was fiercely protective of both. Ginny had an almost supernatural affinity with nature and in particular, storms. She believed that everything on earth had it's own energy, and all forms of life were to be respected.

In 1998 Ginny was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, and from that time on she went through many "phases", some of them positive, and some of them not so positive. She rediscovered her love for music and poetry, and subsequently found StoryPeople, which provided an outlet for the huge amount of emotion, turmoil, and energy flowing through her mind, body and soul. Some of her work is very personal, expressing her sadness at knowing she would never see her children grow up. Some of her work is very sensual; some of her work is absolutely hilarious. Ginny had so many wonderful, special experiences in the last years of her life, and many of them are represented in her poetry.

My sister passed away March 23, 2004 with her family by her side. I miss her every second of every day, but reading her poems is like hearing her speak again. I hope everyone who has the chance to read Ginny's work recognizes just how special a person she really was.

Hi Deb,
Just made it to this site today.....How lovely and warm a place to come and see your sister. Most of us only have photos and a few scattered letters of our loved ones......Thanks for sharing. I'm sure I will enjoy getting to know her and the rest of the gang....My heart has been "lost" spiritually for a while now and I'm glad I found storytellers to help me find my way back to a kinder, gentler place where people value people over anything else in their lives. To me, that is where all the art in our lives comes from. When I am doing my artsy putsy stuff, it is people not "things" that inspire me the most.
I am sorry for your great loss. But I am very thankful that you have such a great wealth of memories of her...
Many Blessings to you and your family!!

Happy birthday Ginny! You would have been 41 on Sunday. Everyone got together to eat chocolate cake (of course) on Sunday afternoon - except me (darn this stomach flu). I miss you every day, still. With everything going on in my life, and in this world, I miss being able to call you and talk (debate) about things, and hearing your thoughts. You were always able to show me a different way of thinking about things. Your children are amazing; I'm sure you've watched them every day. Their musical and artistic abilities come straight from you, and it just blows my mind every time I'm around them. I wish you could have known my daughter, your niece, and I wish she could have known you. It's freaky sometimes - she acts JUST LIKE YOU did when you were her age (you know, a brat) - even though she really never knew you. She's beautiful, and you would love her. I love you, and I miss you, and I can't wait to see you again someday. Love, Debi

Debi - Thank you for sharing Ginny. Her children are lucky to have you in their lives to tell them her stories.
Believe.
