Kindness -the clerk in the police department who has to tell me for the 10th time that the officer hasn't turned in a report due almost 3 weeks ago. She gets on the phone, has it faxed and then won't let me pay for it.
Beauty - Autumn's beautiful colors in my yard
Abundance- beauty and kindess. It's everywhere, all around, if only the eyes are open to it.

Kindness - my partner bringing me ice cream every night!
Beauty - the NCR trail on a chilly Saturday morning and listening to a very busy woodpecker.
Abundance - the richness of having a life partner who loves me so much.

Though it doesn't exactly fit the K/B/A format, I just need to say that I am grateful today that it seems our little Sarah- pup seems to be relatively OK after being run over by a truck yesterday. Not just hit, but run OVER by the back wheel of a smallish truck in the area below her ribs and in front of her hip. My son was about to take her to go play frisbee when she bolted into the street. He saw it happen. The vet finds nothing seriously wrong with her - no broken bones and her organs seem to be intact. Bodily functions seem to be working but she won't drink any water yet. She won't eat dog food either, but did eat an egg I cooked for her. She can do the stairs and get up in a chair, but she's moving very stiffly and about as little as possible; more like a 15 year old dog than an 8 month. BUT I AM GRATEFUL - VERY VERY GRATEFUL that it appears she will recover. I'll gladly cook eggs for however long it takes.
Kindness is the care and concern from our wonderful vet (& the horrified driver of the truck)
Beauty is little Sarah's sad brown eyes
Abundance is the number of years she gets to live after all.....

Aww Kathryn - i'm thankful she'll recover and wasn't hurt worse. It's hard to watch, isn't it? May she recover quickly.
My son that left for the Marines asked us to watch a dog until May, which we're doing. his new wife is moving and asked us to take another one - and then there's a 9 month old pit bull we're all looking for a foster home for until then. Wish us luck. i'm really not a dog person, but can't stand to see them suffer and want someone to take care of what they do have. The one at our house now will not sleep in our dog house and spent the night on the deck in the rain, so i opened the screened in porch and let her in - i'm sure I'll lose some furniture but i can't stand to see her wet AND cold. She's not the smartest dog.
Good luck with your Sarah.
Believe.

Kindness - my daughter in law lets me know my son called her from boot camp and that he's well.
Beauty - the golden yellow paint my niece put on my living room walls and all the decorating she's helping do at my house that has been ignored for way too long while certain people worked hard.
Abundance - support from loving caring people. When you go through a rough patch, you really find out how many people genuinely care and can offer a kind loving word or do things for you that are helpful - say the right thing to encourage or point you to a resource you need. There's a few who won't, but so many more will support you that you wouldn't have dreamed about.
there really is a lot to be thankful for this season.

I wholeheartedly agree. A month or so ago I sat down and wrote a list of names of every person who has helped me in a tangible way, anything from buying me lunch or coffee, to paying my electric bill, to paying me hundreds to load software on their computer, on up to ... way beyond anything I would ever have expected. I counted over 30 different people, and now it's probably more like 40. (And that doesn't even include people who helped me immensely with kind words of encouragement and prayers.)
It is very humbling to be in a place for so long where you need this kind of help, but it certainly does show you the kindness of your friends and family and aquaintances. Someday soon I hope to be in a position to start paying it forward. I am SO grateful for my friends! (And yes, sometimes it's people you aren't even all that close to who are the most willing to help.)

I LOVE the quotes you share, Scarlett! And its the people who are thinking as they are listening that help to promote good conversation, and probably know when to just listen, too

Kathryn, how is Sarah Puppy? Is she feeling a little better and showing more of her puppyself again? So thankful that she is okay.... I had a friend who lost a dog to a vehicle - so awful... and my neighbor girls in Dayton SAW a dog get hit yesterday by someone who didn't even stop. The dog seemed okay, except for a limp, they said, but I still felt bad that they had to see that evidence of that side of humanity so plainly when so young. Love and warmth and joy to you and little Sarah...
So - you guessed it - I'm in Dayton for the... weekend? + 1 day? Its been Lovely. Busy. Crazy. Memorable. All the good stuff.
I could put KBA for all three days I'm here, plus the day I traveled, but it might be a little long so I'll pick the bestest ones!
Kindness - Being welcomed home to the community and the effort of old roomates to all get up early for breakfast together on Saturday morning. Oh! And Krista and her hubby are giving my family their old dishwasher to replace our old and LEAKY dishwasher. We;ll make this one last until the new Government Energy Star program starts up next year. Woohoo!
Beauty - the way that all of the events going on this weekend fit right in with my visit and the timing all worked itself out. I had no dilemmas, no hectic running around, just calm and content being where I am and still getting to see all the people I love!
Abundance - ohhhh laughter. I have laughed until I cried which made me cry more then cried until I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe at all. And then, the next day, when my roomie and I took the neighbor girls to church, it was cancelled, so we walked home and played in the park and had all of this quality time together, including this game where we had everybody take turns holding water in their mouth with their cheeks puffed out while everyone else tried to make them laugh so hard they had to spit it all out! *giggles* It was stinkin' hilarious
Its good to be home...
