Beauty: Went with friends on this gorgeous saturday, to hike a trail that I had never done before: beautiful tall pines, mountain stream, and at the top, an overlook high above it all, with brilliantly blue sky, white fluffy clouds, looking down on 3 reservoirs and forest far down below and closer to us, interesting rock formations and ancient wind-twisted bristlecone pine trees, and on the drive there, we saw aspens which were just beginning to turn gold! Wish I'd brought my camera!

Kindness: A friend sang "Mame" to me at a karaoke party as an early birthday tribute! And an old flame sent me a kind birthday card without any flirty lets-see-if-I-can-still-push-your-buttons stuff.

Kindness and Abundance: Others shared their snacks with me on the hike, since I had gotten up late and didn't bring any, barely taking time to grab a peach for breakfast. And then I found a bottle of "superfood", basically a balanced meal in a bottle, which I must've put in my backpack months ago. Didn't know I even still had any of that left.

Beauty: The worship music at church this morning...absolutely gorgeous!

Kindness: A friend invited me over for lunch. Another friend brought a yummy fruit torte and a chocolate cream pie with meringue to our normal Sunday night card gathering, in lieu of a birthday cake for me!

Happy Birthday Month To YOU again, Mame!!!

So glad you are having fun!

I have indeed been thinking of these before I go to sleep at night, and means I just about always fall asleep with a smile on my face.

Kindness: My mom managed to arrange a furniture exchange for a new tenant in one home from a tenant who is moving out of another suite. He is headed to Cali, and she, the new gal, is coming from Florida. He wanted to sell his furniture and owes $200 that he doesn't have, and she has all her furniture in storage and doesn't know when she can get it, so planned to sell it later and buy new... somewhere. Mom put them together and now the new girl should have some furniture and will be paying what he owes. Everybody Be Happy.

Another Kindness - a doctor actually listened. Amazing.

Beauty - Every night, when I fall asleep, I can't help but think that it is the most beautiful thing that my sweet little puppies are beside me. That they want to make this bed all warm and crowded. *laughs* Maple, trying to get comfortable, made an attempt at sitting on my head last night. Entertaining, beauty, no less!

Abundance: Family. Simplicity. Love and Joy.
Peace in your hearts,
With the love of my soul

Hey Mall, things are all falling into place, eh? And sounds like your doggies know their place .

I think this is beauty, kindness and abundance all rolled up into one. I was in that uniquely grateful internal place today, while driving towards a golden sunset after a rain. Everything fresh. Greens ~ luminous emerald. Random thoughts were popping pleasantly around my head when I realized I was thinking about the people in my life, and although, I've always known it, the chord struck extra deep within me today as to just how amazing, wonderful and even heroic they all are......I want to share what some of them are currently doing/being which doesn't even begin to cover the magic of who they are, but it's a glimpse -- There's N who is using her passion for history and research (all voluntary) to enhance the way local historical sites bring history to life for the general public. There's S who is always ALWAYS open to new insights and who was selfless in her assistance to me when I was down and out after surgery. C has been a faithful friend for our entire lives - we "met" when she was about 3 months old and I was newborn. B is living with the devastating disease of Alzheimers and keeps on keeping on, to the very best of his ability, despite it's ravages. His wife, S devotes herself to him day and night. D fights passionately and tirelessly for safety and justice in his workplace, even to the point of sacrificing his own well being in the process. B goes way above and beyond his job expectations to bring special programs encouraging literacy to the inmates he works with and is the kind of friend who, though we don't see each other all that often, bought an extra ticket (for me) when one of our favorite, inspirational authors is coming to speak in the area. G, a woman in her middle 60s is raising her grandchildren alone. J, a single woman in her 50s, adopted a little girl and deals patiently with many challenges. P, in her 50s is back in college to begin a second career. C owns and operates a large day care center and devotes herself to each child as if she/he were her own, making countless sacrifices along the way. J, struggling to build a new business, offers his services at reduced rates to those who can't afford them because he so wants to help them feel better and he has maintained integrity in the face of some serious attacks. A gives hours and hours of free service of his skills to friends & family who need his expertise. A doesn't let her extreme diabetes stop her, even as she juggles the care of ailing parents and a high pressure career. D, S, K & B maintain a little art gallery, not making any $$, but just to encourage artists and art in the community. G fights her way back from the brink of despair and sheds the most glorious light and inspiration. C rises up and claims her joy after decades of not. B takes a physical challenge and creates a whole new healthy lifestyle from it. K, though housebound from physical disability, prays with fervor for others. The wonderful thing is that I could go on and on. This is scarcely the tip of the ice-burg, and I didn't even mention any of the Peeps who I so admire...... I could give you at least a couple dozen more snapshots, but will stop for now. I am blessed and rich beyond belief for the friendship and inspiration which abound and I'm thankful for the eyes to see it. Don't get me wrong. These are real people with their own flaws and shortcomings as well, but when I think about the beautiful spirits they all are, and the goodness that they bring to the world, it's nearly overwhelming. My life is rather modest. It may not look like much, but it is full to overflowing. This I know, because this evening, I can feel it bubbling -- all welled up in my throat and spilling out of my eyes. I am humbled and I feel the presence of God.

KBA all rolled into one...

seeing my guy tell the hostess at the restaurant to put an elderly couple's charges on our bill and say it was compliments of the house, after hearing their concerns about not having enough money while standing in line. there was much beauty and abundance of smiles in their faces, and a warm affirmation that i was definitely lucky to have said yes to him, even if i didn't completely remember it at the time.

Sigh... I've finally had a few moments to spare to come and visit... As always, y'all are a breath of fresh air and sunshine just after a morning rain!

* The kindness shown to you that day: My Seargant let me go early from work...just because...

* The beauty you saw that day: My daughter riding for the first time all by herself!!!

* The abundance you received that day: Hugs and kisses from my kiddos and then my husband!!!

very thankful right now...

moving the first load into our new house last night, using the new keychain that says 'super grandma', taking in the gorgeous view of the lake in the moonlight, and realizing it was the first day of a new journey in my life.

conversation with an 8 year old:
you know, i told my mom that i think of you as my real grandma. she said that she thought you loved me and my brother like we were your own.

i do,and i'm glad you feel the same way.

i love coming to spend the night with you, and it's going to be even better in your new house. can i bring friends over sometime?

of course you can, wouldn't that be fun?

you know, grandpa told us a long time ago he was never getting married. but i had it planned all along. i knew from the first day i met you the two of you would get married one day.

well, aren't you the smart one?

nope, just knew you were the nicest person i had ever met, and he was really happy. i love you!

(big hug and kiss) i love you too.
