Mine was out for 9 hours yesterday while a blizzard was in progress.

~I am so thankful it came back on just after dark, so I didn't have a miserably cold night.

~I am thankful that my refrigerator stayed cold enough to keep this unemployed woman from losing all her groceries.

~I am thankful for my sweet warm little kitties who snuggled with me under the covers for a long winters nap. They are awesome little space heaters!

~I am thankful for the 16 year old boy next door who was bored and asked if he could clear off my driveway for me. (Officials said to stay off of the roads, but I just drove a couple of blocks to the store for batteries.)

Hi, Mame...

Now tell 'em it's 72 degrees today!

Here in Bldr. you can only find a little snow in the shady spots.

'Course, we're used to this. Went to Farmers' Mkt. again this a.m. Had a breakfast burrito, listened to the musicians, enjoyed the beautiful colors blowing around my feet, bought a lovely bouquet. Lana works for the elections office, so she got NO time off today.

Hugs to you all...

That's one of the things I LOVE about Colorado! By yesterday almost all of the snow in my front yard was melted. I have 2 tiny spots of it left, and today I took a nice little hike in my favorite public garden where it was so warm, sunny and cloudless, I was wishing I had worn shorts!

I am jealous Rich...I thought the farmers market ended in September, and was wishing I had made it up there before the end. I guess today was surely the last of the season. Glad you got to soak it in.

Just went three days without running water. No bathing, no toilet, no clean dishes, no laundry.

Yup, losing the things you take for granted changes your perspective on being grateful.

Illinois looked pretty much like Colorado except ours still hasn't melted much. LOTS of folks were without electricity and some still are almost a week later. I was lucky and never lost power. I was the ONLY one in my department who made it in to work on Friday morning. Even then, I bellied my car into a drift at the mouth of the facility's drive and had to abandon it with it's tail hanging out into the highway. I'm thankful for the guys who finally dug me out of it and drug my car on into the lot. Although it took me about 45 minutes to get the three miles to work (about half of that was in trying to get out of my own driveway with my son shoveling and pushing) I still consider it very lucky to not have been one of the 20 or so cars in the ditches or stuck in the middle of the road (what road? couldn't really tell where it was) between home and work. I'm grateful no one else tried and that although it was undoubtedly foolish for me to have been out in it, I'm glad I made it so the essential tasks could be completed. I'm grateful that it finally stopped so I could get HOME!! Today I was in a town about 30 miles away and it looks far worse than ours was -- SO many trees and limbs down ~ like a bomb or a tornado ripped through. In the midst of a mess (several counties have been declared disaster areas) I was only inconvenienced - MUCH to be thankful fo and I hope everyone gets back to "normal" soon!

From what I've heard, Illinois winters are generally far harsher than ours.
I am glad you and your car are okay!
